This is the second most popular test in the world. What makes it so popular among the pool of test takers?
Let’s discover
The test originated in 2009 when it was given by immigrants who wanted to go to Australia. We cannot ignore the fact that it is becoming the top choice of test takers today, as the results are prompt. Sometimes these are so quick that you come out of the centre and the results are there. However, the time that is officially published to declare the result is 48 hours. The charge for booking the test is INR 17000. The number of tests exceeded 1.23 million, indicating continued growth in popularity.
Pearson’s test of English, like any other English proficiency test, has four modules. LSWR are the four main pillars of the test and is an automated test where there is no human examiner. The exception is to describe images and retell the lecture types of questions. There are 20 different types of questions in the test, which you have to solve in 2 hours. Each module is 30 minutes, which makes it 2 hours for the complete test. Each module has 90 marks. So the total score is 360, which is divided by 4 to calculate an average or overall score.
Types of PTE Exam
PTE General: This test has a lifetime validity once taken and is specially opted for by educators who want to have an English teaching proficiency certificate.
PTE Academic: If you wish to take overseas education in a foreign country, then PTE Academic can be a good choice for you. If you aspire to graduate, the PTE scores that will be required are 60+ out of 90. If you are aiming for a post-graduation degree, you need to be 65+. It purely depends on the university to which your application is enrolled.
PTE Core—PTE is also accepted these days for filling the PR to Canada. It is known as PTE Core. If you get 79+ on the test, you are eligible for extra credit scores, which boost the CRS score. However, the application can be filled out at 65 overall for PNP and express entry. 79+ in PTE (CLB 10 and above) grants up to 34 points for single applicants and 32 points for applicants with a spouse, under the language skills category.
