Effective Tips to Boost Your Band Score in IELTS Writing Task 1

1. Plan your writing; invest 3-4 minutes in planning your overview.
2. Overview is the most important paragraph of writing task one.
3. To do this, you must analyse or interpret the graph properly.
4. Proofreading after writing the final draft is important. There are silly errors or typing errors that go unnoticed despite checking.
5. An overview is always made with the help of two important features in the graph or a picture. Always try to pick up something uncommon or peculiar about the graph.
6. Use a connector like furthermore or moreover to join them, and your overview is ready.
7. Sometimes candidates also illustrate a trend or the highest and lowest value, which is also correct.

Conclusion and Overview are the same; it’s just that some writers write them at the end. However, I believe the first format is good to stick to, as writing an overview gives the examiner an idea of the kind of content or quality he or she can expect in the remaining paragraphs. Half of your work is done if the intro and overview are impressive. Do not take me wrong; this does not mean your body paragraphs can be below the mark.
