In this blog post, we will discuss the latest rule being introduced for Duolingo English test takers.
The rule requires you to record your keyboard and screen with your phone’s camera to ensure that the test is conducted ethically without using unfair means.
Steps to be followed
1. You need to fully charge your phone so that it does not shut down during the test or else put it on charging and then video record the entire test.
2. Use a stand, mug, or heavy object to lean the phone against. Make sure it does not fall during the test; otherwise, the test will be invalidated and you will have to take a retest.
3. Your upper body doesn’t have to be recorded in the camera; instead, what is more crucial is your hands typing on the keyboard, and your screen should be recorded.
4. Scan the phone with the QR code that will be displayed during your test setup or starting the test.
5. Put the phone in do not disturb mode so that you do not receive any pop-up notifications during the test.
6. If you wish to know the perfect angle of your phone, it can be just behind or beside you, and the video feed on your computer screen can help you adjust the phone to a perfect angle. Make sure the keyboard and the screen are visible in the camera.
7. If you do not have a spare phone, use a tablet or an iPad to do so.
